This is as close as I have ever seen the Dolphins to the beach. I was photographing the surf when they passed by.

Store Fronts On Fairfax Ave

Store fronts along Fairfax Ave between Framer's Market and LACMA. This is what you saw on busy retail streets in cities across southern California when I was growing up in the 50's and 60's. No strip malls. Even now I hate them. All the strip mall does is add an additional layer of ugly to an already uninspired environment.

And the parking for these retail outlets was usually in the rear where it belonged.

To be honest what attracted me to this group of stores was the various colors all mixed together and not at all complementary.

A Vertical For Your Viewing Pleasure

I rarely, if ever, do verticals anymore. It's like we're cropping out whats on the left and right of the image. But sometimes they really do shout VERTICAL.

New 'Grand Park' In Downtown Los Angeles

Two views of the new Grand Park Fountain Plaza in downtown Los Angeles. The entire park is not complete but the first section, the Fountain Plaza, opened in July.

And if you think I don't do verticals this final photo will nullify that notion. It was taken from the 27th floor observation level of the Los Angeles City Hall. I believe it's the highest observation space in downtown Los Angeles. There are taller buildings downtown but none of them provide a high level observation area.

My Street, My Photography

All street photography is candid photography. Unposed. Unaware. A snapshot.

Wait a snapshot? Yes a snapshot. What is a snapshot? Here's one possible source of the word:

The term 'snapshot' was probably taken from its use in hunting, where it refers to the hasty firing of a shot at a moving target without taking deliberate aim.*

Isn't that we Street Photographers do - take Snapshots?

Do Not Cross Or Climb?

I didn't have any desire to be on the air station even when I was in the Marines. Still don't now that it's suppose to be the GREAT park of Orange County, CA.

Is the sign saying don't carry a ladder or do they want us to stay away from the railroad tracks? Or maybe it's 'Don't use a ladder to get over the fence onto the air station or great park.' Whatever.
