Mystery Door
The door is from somewhere in the Middle-east. The building was once a Post Office and a Synagogue. I believe it's one of the oldest buildings in Laguna Beach. It's located on Broadway at.
It's now a private art gallery. The owner is also a mystery.
The problem is nothing in front of the door and the front wall of the building fits in with the building itself. The building, front door, and lamp are old antiques and the railing and porch are very modern. The two styles clash. I mean really clash.
So why am I posting a failed photo? 1. I like the door and lamp. 2. The shadow of the tree adds drama. 3. It's a cool old building.
Solution: I'm probably going to do another photo only in the vertical. It will include only the door. I probably will have to exclude the lamp. The dark shadow of the tree is a must. How I'm going to do all this and keep that really ugly railing out of the photo is the challenge.
PS: I don't use Photoshop so Content Aware Fill isn't on the menu.

Today Over Laguna Beach
While trying to work at the computer I happen to look out the window and viewed this scene. I grabbed the camera and took a couple of photos.
Now 15 minutes later the sky is clearing and I'm on my way downtown.
See Ya.

All that you see was supposed to be transformed into a great park. Those in charge blame the decades long delays on the economy. Don't they always.

Culver City Public Art - Again
There is a story in the Sunday LA Times on the public art that is across the street form the Expo line's last stop in Culver City. I originally showed a part of the art back on September 27, 2012.
Read the story on how the art came to be and it's future in the LA Times.

Another View From Hwy 111
This photo shows the same intersection you see here but from further up the highway. Still looks surreal.

Makes No Sense At All
Another photo from the car window. In this case I can't figure out what I photographed or my reason for doing so.
Still it makes no sense to me. You?
This is the power of cropping. Eliminate enough at the borders of a picture and all reference to it's reality is gone.
It's the intersection just before the entrance to the Cliff House. At least I think it is.
And again it's on Hwy 111 in the Coachella Valley.

City Of Coachella
Hwy 111 In The Coachella Valley
Photographing out of the car window is sometimes the only way to get the picture. This photo was taken while driving, not me, along Hwy 111 in the Coachella Valley. Not Palm Springs and not Indio but somewhere in between.
The idea of driving and taking photos is not new. But there is no way I would drive and take photos. And it sure is a lot more fun when you have no worries like rear ending a BMW. Although that wouldn't upset me too much.

Tilt - I Was A Little Busy
I think I'm going to start a new series and call it TILT. Here I'm trying, successfully I might say, to get clear of the beach surf.
The TILT series will be photos with a TILT to them.
REALLY?

Plein Air Painters In Laguna Beach
Some of the best Plein Air painters in the country will be competing in the Plein Air Painting Invitational in Laguna Beach all week starting October 14. That's tomorrow. If you've ever needed a reason to visit Laguna Beach you have one now. You have the chance to watch the painters in action and some, but not all, welcome questions.
It looks like it's going to be a very nice week of weather for the artists and YOU.
For details on the Plein Air Painting Invitational visit the Laguna Art Museum web site.
